Feeling Blue? Gray? Well, they don’t call Seasonal Affective Disorder “SAD” for nothing. Fortunately, there’s good news on the way in the form of the winter solstice on Dec. 21, which means sunlight is on the way.

To usher in the occasion, the second annual Into the Light yoga and meditation event returns, with yoga instructor and event founder Kate Makaroff once again leading an intentional moon flow. In addition to the meditation and breath work practice, there will be an artisan market and an afterglow party with libations and snacks. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Into The Light: A Winter Solstice Celebration takes place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 at the Whiskey Factory; 1000 Maple St., Detroit; eventbrite.com; Tickets are $30-$35; Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat, towel, water bottle, and an item for the celebration altar; all levels invited.
