Corteo, which means cortege, or funeral, in Italian, might make for a morbid plot for a family-friendly theatrical acrobatic performance. But in keeping with the delightfully strange tradition of Cirque du Soleil, Corteo challenges the ridiculous and the tragic with a little bit of magic.

The Corteo cast includes over 50 acrobats, musicians, singers, and actors from all over the world. A romp through the clown's life through illusion, mortality, and whimsy, Corteo triumphs through its casting. However, one of the show's unsung characters is that of its set design which revolves around larger-than-life hand-painted curtains inspired by the Eiffel Tower.

The show, which premiered in 2005 and has since traveled through 19 countries, will deliver six performances at Little Caesars Arena from Thursday, Jan. 10 through Sunday, Jan. 13. Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased here.
