Whoa — catch midnight madness screenings of 'The Matrix' at the Main Art Theatre

Posted By on Wed, Aug 29, 2018 at 3:31 PM

Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity return to the big screen for a double-dose of ass-kicking midnight madness nostalgia. 1999’s hella-dystopian sci-fi thriller The Matrix follows computer hacker Neo played by Keanu Reeves, who soon discovers that the reality most humans are disposed to is, in fact, merely a computer simulation. Well, sort of.

Now nearly 20 years old, the Wachowskis’ classic continues to set the bar for action movies in terms of visual effects, thanks to its groundbreaking slow-motion “bullet time” badassery. Though the film spurred sequels and prequels, nothing beats the original.

The Matrix will screen at midnight on Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Main Art Theatre; 118 N. Main St., Royal Oak; 248-542-5198; landmarktheatres.com; Tickets are $7.
