In the midst of a Motor City comeback, Expedia recognized that Detroit is one of the nation's hidden gem destinations to vacation.

Yes, you read that correctly. People want to vacation here.

But things get even better from there. In Expedia's 2018 round-up, "Most Under-the-Radar Cities in America, Part 2," Detroit joins the list for being a must-visit destination for environmentalists.

We know what you're thinking: Since when is post-industrial Detroit considered an environmentally friendly city?

Well, in case you've been walking around town with your eyes closed, Detroit has made substantial progress in incorporating green space into different pockets of the city. Urban gardens have been cropping up galore, Beacon Park has added another burst of greenery paired with the swanky restaurant Lumen, and the Detroit Riverfront continues to be an attraction for a casual stroll with the city skyline in view. So, should we really be that surprised?

Let's just go ahead and chalk this up as another win for Detroit.
