Party like you just got drafted into the NFL

The time has come, the NFL Draft is upon us! Get ready for a week of sports speculation at is finest and try to repress those memories of always getting picked last during recess...oh, was that just us? Moving on.

The Detroit Lions are expected to have the 16th overall pick during the first round of the draft, which our office sportsball expert told us is "alright." You can plan for anyone with a Fantasy team or general vested interest in football to be busy during the following times: Thursday, April 28, 8:00pm: Round 1; Friday, April 29, 7:00pm: Rounds 2-3; Saturday, April 30, Noon: Rounds 4-7.

And if watching other people's dreams come true on live television isn't your thing (or if you just like parties), there's a way for you to delight in Draft Week. On Friday, April 29, the NFL Alumni Association is hosting a charity event at Emagine Star Lanes in downtown Royal Oak in celebration of the major sporting event.

The NFL Alumni 2016 Draft Party, which will be hosted by Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron, will be an evening of fun — think bowling, pool, music, dancing, silent auction, open bar(!!), and heavy hors d'oeuvres — all in support of the NFL Alumni Student Athlete Scholarship program, which supports scholarships for male and female student athletes attending high school in Wayne County.

If that alone doesn't interest you, the party's your chance to sip concoctions created by celebrity bartenders like broadcasters Amy Andrews, Rob Parker, Jennifer Hammond, and Senator Bert Johnson. Yum, yum.

“Every year our Draft Party continues to grow and expand our reach. It gives the attendees an opportunity to have fun while contributing to our scholarship endowment. Our goal is to keep the 'fun' in fundraising while providing, in a relaxed atmosphere, an opportunity to network and expand connections in the city,” says Ron Rice, President of the NFL Alumni Detroit Chapter.

The event will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and you can get your $100 ticket (hey, fun ain't free) and more information here
