'Fresh Prince' pregnancy announcement parody videos are apparently a thing

Posted By on Wed, Apr 15, 2015 at 10:28 AM

A video of a Happy Valley, Oreg. couple — Jesse and Melissa Meek — rapping their pregnancy announcement to the tune of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has gone viral, racking up more than 3,000,000 views since it was uploaded on Apr 5, 2015.

However, as one of our readers pointed out, a metro Detroit couple — Brian and Jehann Zaid, from West Bloomfield — created a similar video nearly a year before the Meeks. While the Meeks deserve props for their "less is more" approach, the Zaids' video is far more ambitious, involving multiple scenes and some editing. (Our favorite part of the video is when Mr. Zaid drives the minivan away with the kids in the back and the door open.) One YouTube commenter remarked, "Stupid hormones ... I'm bawling my eyes out."

Congrats, all, to your new families.
