Biggby Coffee alerts customers of potential security breach

Posted By on Fri, Apr 3, 2015 at 4:10 PM

Anyone who enjoys Michigan-based Biggby Coffee should take note: The company said Friday that hackers recently took aim at the coffee chain, and potentially exposed personal information of customers.

The coffee chain didn't state in a letter Friday how many customers were potentially affected by the breach last week, which Biggby says may have compromised customers' names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and information on employment history.

However, wrote Nicole Vilminot, Biggby's director of marketing, "The intruder(s) did not gain access to financial information or sensitive data such as credit card information, bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or driver's license numbers."

Biggby said the personal information "may have been provided" when registering for a "Biggby card," or through an employment application.

The incident was reported to law enforcement officials, Biggby said, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. If anyone has any questions, Biggby said to contact it at 517-482-8145 or [email protected]
