See a drive-in movie
This time last summer, the low-budget made-in-Michigan horror film The Wretched topped the box-office charts, placing it among titans of cinema like Titanic and Avatar, thanks to a savvy idea to release the film in pandemic-proof drive-in theaters like Dearborn's Ford-Wyoming Drive-In (10400 Ford Rd., Dearborn; 313-846-6910; forddrivein.com). Well, this year the movies are back, with the ninth installment of the longstanding Fast & Furious franchise being marketed as no less than the return of Hollywood writ large along with Marvel's long-awaited Black Widow. We'll take a large popcorn with that.

Revolver
    9737 Joseph Campau Ave., Hamtramck
Revolver debuted in 2013 with a novel concept of selling advance tickets to special dinners with weekly rotating chefs, many of whom used the space to preview their new restaurants. While it drew a cult following, it could not survive the coronavirus pandemic, which forced many restaurants to resort to carryout. Revolver's closure was made official in the fall.

22. See Detroit as Cadillac first saw it: from the water

What a difference the distance of a couple hundred yards makes! From the river Detroit first obtained its sustenance, its commerce, its very name. Now the waterway provides an excellent vantage point to see the city. Not only is it always 10 degrees cooler on the river, as those who’ve turned into the wind aboard such pleasure crafts as Diamond Jack’s or the grand, three-story Detroit Princess know, it carries a bracing energy all its own.
