It's pretty safe to say that everyone lost their freckin' minds when the news broke that Amazon was possibly eyeing Detroit as the city to house their new North American headquarters, aka HQ2. Just look at Detroit's reddit page this afternoon and you can see just how excited people are at the idea of this happening.
It's gotten so bizarre that apparently Dan Gilbert has assembled some sort of "team" to persuade Amazon to come here like he's Professor X assembling the X-Men to fight for justice.
While outlets like Crain's think that the Amazon HQ opening isn't going to happen, others are staying slightly more optimistic at the idea of a bunch of Seattle nerds opening shop in Detroit.
A petition has been drawn up on change.org to bring Amazon to Detroit. The petition description says, "Detroit is an amazing city on the comeback. It's history, culture, and innovation is the perfect place for Amazon headquarters. A company that is continuing to break molds and barriers deserves a city that is doing the same."
As long as Detroiters get first pick on Prime Day specials and packages get delivered just a little bit sooner than we are all for the company coming to town.
