Numerous lawsuits have been lobbed at Gov. Rick Snyder and other current and former state employees since the Flint water crisis came to light.

To deal with the pesky litigation, Snyder has decided to not rely on state counsel, but rather hire outside attorneys.

According to Crain's Detroit, Eugene Driker of Detroit-based Barris, Scott, Denn & Driker PLLC will "assist with civil representation in addition to the state attorney general’s office." And Grand Rapids attorney Brian Lennon of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP has been retained as "investigatory counsel," the business paper was told by Gov. Snyder's new spokesman Ari Adler (yes, Dave Murray is gone).

What may rub citizens the wrong way is that, according to Adler, the legal counsel — with contracts worth $249,000 each — is being paid with taxpayer dollars.

Please sound off in the comments where you think that cool half-a-mill would be better served.
