Water, water, everywhere

A frame from a video showing what appears to be a water main shooting out a steady stream of water.

An MT reader sent us video of this fenced-in area spewing water nonstop. We honestly don't know what it is, but it seems to be cool, clear, potable water. Water?

Our informer writes, "It's in a big box, thinkin' water pump. Looks like Niagara Falls, though. The area all around it is flooded."

Just spitballing here, but, it would seem that our source would be correct. What else would be caged in like that but something that dispenses water?

Our informant continues: "It's been going like this for at least a week now, probably longer

This is just outside Belle Isle. If facing the bridge from Jefferson, it is in the tree area to the right."

So is it possible that, even as Detroiters are having their water shut off for being behind on their bills, a Detroit Water & Sewerage Main is disgorging a ton of water an hour? That's what we're curious about. Perhaps the water department should have a look. (Or perhaps some water-challenged Detroiters should bring a pail!)
