Wall faller

The Abandoned Structure Squad (known far and near by the acronym that graces these pages, ASS) thought we would take a minimalist approach to mark the return to this space. Hence, for the first time, we offer you an Abandoned Facade of the Week. It’s only a matter of time before a brick (or several) drops on the head of some unfortunate soul waiting at this bus stop on the 10300 block of East Warren, two blocks east of Cadillac Street. We learned about this crumbling wall from a reader who says he has been shaking his head in disbelief for months as he drives past. Bricks are strewn about the sidewalk. The tail end of what once appears to have been a commercial building is a pile of rubble. ASS urges the city to take it down now before some head-trauma victim shows up seeking big bucks in court.

Editor’s note: If you know of an abandoned home you would like to see featured in this spot, send a photo and pertinent information to News Hits, c/o Metro Times, 733 St. Antoine, Detroit, MI 48226 (or e-mail [email protected]).
