If you've ever wondered what 2,000 cyclists in the Motor City look like, you could've seen it today at the Tour de Troit.
Metro Times was there, and if you believe nothing else we publish, believe us when we say it looks damn fine, even considering all the Spandex.
About 100 riders pedaled a "metric century," a 100-kilometer route from the event's start in Corktown around Detroit through Highland Park and Hamtramck. The other 1,900 registered riders completed a 30-mile trek mainly through downtown.
The groups passed on either side of Grand Boulevard near Belle Isle as riders cheered and waved to each other. Spectators along the 100-mile route greeted riders with "woohoos," "you got it" and even a "look at all the pretty bikes" from a toddler along the way.
Come back to Metro Times for pictures and more stories later. Right now, we have to, um, HYDRATE!
