Tonight you can support local LGBTQ young people at VOICES, an event held at the College for Creative Studies benefiting the Ruth Ellis Center in Highland Park.

The 2014 Ruth Ellis Center annual event VOICES brings together the combined philosophies of positive youth development and social justice while bringing awareness to the epidemic of homelessness among LGBTQ youth in the United States. Understanding that youth are experts in their own life, VOICES provides a meaningful and educational platform for LGBTQ youth to use their voice, share their story, celebrate their individuality and be empowered to impact change. This year, youth will present an original composition incorporating music, dance, sign language and spoken word in collaboration with local artists and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

The event will be held at CCS, 460 W. Baltimore St., Detroit. Event starts at 7 with a VIP reception at 6. You can purchase tickets at the door, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the young people the Ruth Ellis Center serves.
