Local chefs to duke it out in 8 mile-style dip battle punctuated by rap performances

A rare taste of 8 mile comes to Gratiot Avenue Thursday night when a handful of local culinary talents take the stage at Trinosophes for a dip competition done in the rap battle format.

Dip chefs include Les Molnar of Johnny Noodle King/Green Dot/Huron Room; Shinya Hirakawa of Noble Fish; Dr. Sushi, purveyor of Michigan's only sustainable sushi and Japanese fare; and Gordana Ristic, author of a Serbian cook book.

Rappers and other musical folks will be on hand to provide the entertainment between battle rounds. In the rap category are Goldzilla and Mister. Double Winter will hold it down on the psych-rock front. Eddie Logix will provide the beats while rapper Doc Waffles hosts.

Five bucks gets you in the door and the dipping commences after 7 p.m. More information on Diptopia available here.
