Source of last night's 'mystery fireworks' discovered



The mysterious fireworks display that was launched from a barge in the Detroit River last night was the subject of much speculation this morning. What the heck was that? Was it part of the Paul McCartney show at Joe Louis Arena? Was Doc Brown's car appearing from another time?

Channel 7 has gotten to the bottom of it. 

The massive fireworks display over the Detroit River came from an event put on by ASM International, a trade group that describes itself as, "The world's largest association of metals-centric materials engineers and scientists." Their Heat Treat 2015 Conference & Exposition is taking place at Cobo Center this week.

Wednesday night, ASM hosted "The Heat is On," a special event for conference attendees at the Waterview Loft. Conference promotional materials said, "This party will feature dinner, an open bar, surprise 'hot' entertainment, and much more."
