Break out the old prom dress, girls. Dust off that powder blue suit, boys. The weekly Monday night bike ride through the city is getting fancy. It's Slow Roll Homecoming.
While your typical high school homecoming would take place in the fall, with prom falling during the spring months, we're not going to argue about semantics. We're too busy deciding what we're going to wear.
Starting at Saint Andrew's Hall at 6:30 p.m. on June 2, the ride will leave at 7 p.m. While Slow Roll is usually a free event, this edition comes with a price tag of $5, but live funky jams will be provided by Will Sessions with a DJ providing jams to keep the crowd moving before and after the band. The dance party will commence following the ride.
Attracting upwards of 2000 metro Detroiters a week, Slow Roll is quickly becoming a favorite and rather famous Monday night event in the city.
The event is sponsored by Detroit Bike City, Tito's Vodka, New Belgium Brewery, Bern Unlimited, and Boombotix.
And, yes, a king and queen will be crowned as voted by the crowd.
