Officers of the Shelby Twp. Police Department are singing a different tune after accomplishing their goal of gaining 5,000 new Twitter followers last week. How are they celebrating? With a nauseating version of "Police Car Karaoke," as promised.
The campaign, which was launched May 5, promised that if the official Shelpy Twp. Police Dept. Twitter account got 5,000 Twitter followers that they would partake in Police Car Karaoke, of course, a play on the now popular James Corden celebrity bit, "Carpool Karaoke."
The singing sacrificial lambs, officers Leslie and Lukas, took to the mic (er, wheel) and ran through a sloppy rendition of several popular songs.Woohhhhh, halfway there....... !!! Officer Leslie and Officer Jake have a message about #PoliceCarKaraoke pic.twitter.com/hVGYcDEcAu

"We promised #PoliceCarKaroke at 5,000 Twitter followers. We didn't promise it would be good," the caption reads.
Officer Leslie notes the age gap between her and her partner, which explains why she chose classics like "It's Raining Men" whereas Lukas happened to know every word to Kid Rock's "Cowboy."
Shelby Twp. Police Department is the latest in a growing number of social media "community outreach" stunts by local law enforcement in hopes of #HumanizingTheBadge.
In April, police in Bath Township posted a photo of one of their squad cars with the word "Popo" emblazoned on its side, "in an attempt to be more relatable to the local youths." And just last week, the Troy police department concluded their search for their first ever police cat for the department's newly established "Feline Unit" after reaching their Twitter follower goal.
OK, so the video consists of very little actual singing and is mostly talking with a sprinkle of headbanging. You can see for yourself below.
