For the health of it — There will be something for almost everybody at a fund-raising event for the nonprofit group Z.I.A.D. Healthcare for the Underserved. The group provides health care, health education and physical fitness programs to uninsured and underinsured families and individuals. The event is being held Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6, in the field house on the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus. One highlight of the event will be martial arts action featuring competitors from across the country. Television and film actors featured in an array of shows and movies ranging from Mortal Combat to Saved by the Bell will be on hand to sign autographs. Booths will offer everything from massages and health care to financial advice. Cost is $10 for one day and $15 for two. 313-815-8767.

Social insecurity — The first in a series of public meetings regarding proposed changes in Social Security will be held Friday, March 4, at the William D. Ford Senior Citizens Activity Center at 6750 Troy in Taylor. This and four subsequent forums will be held by U.S. Rep. John Dingell (D-Dearborn). The free event begins at noon. Walk & talk about — Preservation Wayne is seeking volunteer guides for the upcoming Detroit Heritage Tour season. The walking tours are conducted from May through September. The first of two volunteer recruitment meetings will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 5, at Hannan House, 4750 Woodward Ave. The second meeting will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 19, also at Hannan House.
