Shaq has the right to sell himself anyway he wants because he’s alive. Lou Gehrig, however, is dead. But his famous “Luckiest Man” speech has been soiled and digitally manipulated with the precision of a necrophile by the French communications corporation, Alcatel. It’s the same farewell (to baseball and life) speech, but digital technology has been used to erase the crowd at Yankee Stadium. Check out this creepy ad at www.alcatel.com where you can also find the company’s other exploitative ad featuring Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, also minus the crowd.
