Detroit Metro Times is seeking a new staff writer to join our team.

We’re looking for a dynamic journalist who loves Detroit and Detroiters, and who can tell their stories as easily with creative prose as with documents and records.

We want a writer who is as comfortable writing hard-hitting news as they are talking about art, music, culture, or food.

We are seeking a journalist capable of writing enthralling long form, magazine-style features as well as short 200- word articles.

The ideal staff writer is culturally congnizant and perhaps able to speak multiple languages. This writer is craving a platform to tell the engaging, meaningful stories that local and national media outlets ignore or overlook. This person knows where and how to find those stories, while staying ahead of the curve and setting the trend.

We are seeking a writer who wants to blog daily, engage with the public, and is comfortable making appearances on TV and radio. We are looking for a writer who knows how to harness the power of social media without being tethered to it.

The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, and energized by Detroit. They have a nose for story and truth. Their passion and commitment to the city and journalism are apparent in their work.

If you think you are all this and more, we want to hear from you. Please email your resume along with your three best, published clips to us at jobs [@] metrotimes.com
