Detroit Metro Times is seeking a new part-time staff photographer to join our team.

We’re looking for a staff photographer who has a flair for Detroit as the subject. This photographer is plugged in to the city, and can capture the spirit of Detroit in images.

The ideal photographer is able to cover Detroit with passion and respect. This photographer is craving a platform to show the engaging, meaningful stories that local and national media outlets ignore or overlook. This person knows where and how to capture those stories in pictures, while staying ahead of the curve and setting the trend. They are able to go to a city council meeting or an academic forum (or any other event or location) and come back with a picture that tells the story of the day.

We are seeking a photographer who wants to submit photo galleries daily, engage with the public, and is comfortable making public appearances on TV and radio. We are looking for a photographer who knows how to harness the power of social media without being tethered to it.

The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, and energized by Detroit. They have an ability to capture a moment with depth and candid honesty. Their passion and commitment to the city and photojournalism are apparent in their work.

If you think you are all this and more, we want to hear from you. Please email your resume along with your three best, published photos to us at jobs[@]metrotimes.com
