Maybe it’s unfair to compare Gil Hill to Harry Houdini, but the mayoral candidate does seems to be perfecting his own disappearing act.
Last week, a handful of eco-friendly groups sponsored a two-and-a-half hour forum where candidates were questioned about environmental issues affecting Detroit. It was a big deal, with nearly 200 eager citizens showing up. Soon after opening statements, however, Hill headed for the door.
Sources tell News Hits that he’s pulled the same stunt several times previously — that is, when he bothers to appear at all. This despite his protestations to Metro Times that he, in fact, attends plenty of such forums.
It’s an act that might work during the crowded primary, but we wonder how it will play if the Hillster tries playing hide-and-seek should he make it into the two-person runoff.
