'Handmaid's Tale' Senate candidate jokes about sexual assault at Macomb County rally

You can now add the guy who's running against Sen. Debbie Stabenow to the growing list of Republican men making light of a national movement to hold men accountable for sexual misconduct.

At a rally last week in St. Clair Shores, guy-running-against-Stabenow made an apparent reference to the controversy surrounding accused sexual abuser Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court, minimizing the allegations against him.

"I don't want to go to Washington, who would right now?" guy said. "I mean, you'll see what I was doing 36 years ago. Well I was one, so I was breast-feeding... so I guess I was grabbing boobs."
Guy-running-against-Stabenow's delivery was in the style of a comedic riff. The jokes landed, giving a nice chuckle to a crowd of dozens.

Guy has the endorsement of Donald Trump, who has also minimized the sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh, and at one point outright lied about them. The accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, went before the Senate two weeks ago to recount how while in high school she was locked in a room at a party and groped by Kavanaugh. Blasey Ford said Kavanaugh held his hand over her mouth to keep her from screaming, and would have succeeded in removing all her clothes had she not been in a one-piece bathing suit.

Guy-running-against-Stabenow and his supporters apparently find this attempted rape claim funny. Honestly though, we expect nothing less from guy, who recently gave a speech that looked like a scene out of the "Handmaids Tale." Standing before a crowd of Christian men in mid-Michigan, guy said that while "it may not be politically correct," it is their job "to lead" and that "women want men who've been tested."

Guy is running against Stabenow, who is a woman.
