Detroit Metropolitan Airport recognized as one of North America's best

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport has been distinguished as one of the best in North America.

The airport was recognized as part of the Airports Council International's annual Airport Service Quality awards. Among the award categories are best airport by size and region, most improved, best ambiance and environment, best customer service, and best infrastructure and facilities.

Detroit and Minnesota's Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport were both recognized as being the best North American airports servicing between 25 and 40 million passengers per year.

"Our internal departments, along with our airline partners, tenants and federal partners continue to raise the bar regarding customer service," Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton said in a statement. "We’ve updated our retail and food beverage offerings throughout the terminals, opened nine nursing rooms and continue to offer flights that have a wide appeal. We strive to make traveling a positive experience for our customers and are delighted our customers have noticed.”

Among other recent improvements, DTW is redeveloping its food and beverage program at its North Terminal. Michigan breweries Jolly Pumpkin and Atwater Taproom will soon have locations at DTW, as will Anita’s Kitchen, Common Grace, and Cantoro Italian Trattoria.
