Casting Call: Masquerade of the Red Death

Jun 23, 2014 at 4:27 pm

Taking place for the first time on October 26, 2013, The Masquerade of the Red Death, part party and part live performance, was held at the Crofoot in Pontiac. There were only two rules: Masquerade attire must be wore and wearing red is not allowed. Entertainment included music, dance, hypnosis, magic, tarot and palm reading, mentalism, psychics, fire performers, and more. This year, the event that mocks Edgar Allan Poe's novel, The Masque of the Red Death, will take place at the Macomb Music Theatre in Mt. Clemens.

In preparation for the party, event organizers are holding open casting for several roles including Prince Prospero, the lead, a part that was originally performed by Vincent Price in the original film version that was released in 1964.

Other available roles include that of the Red Death himself, as well as several minor and non-speaking roles.

Auditions, which are free of charge, will take place at The Actor's Loft found at 919 S Main Street on Saturday June 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prospective actors can sign up ahead of time by sending a resume and head shot to [email protected]. Advance contact will also secure and guarantee an audition.
