Can the Detroit Wienerssance Center save Detroit?

Earlier this week we took a look at how Packard Detroit’s artisanal handcrafted Coney Dogs are literally the only hope for Detroit's long-promised rise from the ashes. However, further research reveals that Packard is not the first time Detroit's renaissance has been proposed via hot dogs. Enter the Detroit Wienerssance Center, an ambitious plan to encase the Reinaissance Center in a hot dog facade not unlike an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. It's unclear why the project never took off, but this promotional video from last year offers a conceptual artist rendering of the skyline that could have been and a look at how Detroit's economy might have been rejuvenated.
