Boosting buzz

You can buy gum that cleans your teeth and protects against tartar. You can buy breath mints that give you a caffeine lift. So why not get your daily vitamins in a cup of joe? Nutri-Coffee sails past the multiflavored, multicultural, multicaffeinated selections found at coffeehouses and offers a nutritional boost. The company behind this product, Nutri-Ceuticals, promises its nutritionally enhanced coffee comes from the very best beans, giving drinkers great flavor with a "healthy kick." There are four varieties of this fortified coffee — Dieter’s Helper with Chromium Picolinate, Super C with Vitamin C, Ultra Energy with Guarana and Bee Pollen, and Memory Helper with Ginkgo Biloba. (all cq) All but the Ultra Energy blend are available in a decaffeinated form. However, the product does raise a few questions. What is the total caffeine content in coffee enhanced with guarana, a herb that already contains caffeine? And, does caffeine counteract any of the nutrients present in Nutri-Coffee? Just a few things to mull over before forking out up to $10 for 12 ounces of this stuff. Find out more at www.nutri-ceuticals.net/nutri-coffee.html. What grabs your attention? E-mail us at
