Birks works

Some people buy new shoes this time of year because spring is in the air, but those who really confuse me are the people who buy new shoes for upcoming vacations. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the point of vacations is to get away from all the annoying people you already know; therefore, what does it matter what people think of you while on vacation? It’s not like you’ll ever see them again or that they’ll remember what kind of shoes you wore. Regardless, when thinking of vacation shoes, what is more obvious than Birkenstocks?

But, hold the phone, Birks are not just for hearty tourists, proud Europeans, stereotypical dykes or dirty hippies anymore. Indeed, Birkenstock now makes really cool, but expensive, shoes (not just faux-Roman sandals). At www.birkenstock.com, you’ll find proof in the models named after good country-music cities — both the Nashville and Memphis models cost $169.95.
