Atwater Brewery is canning its most popular beers, including Dirty Blonde Ale, Grand Circus Session IPA, and Atwater Lager, with those cans widely available for purchase.
Cans will be available at local stores that already carry Atwater as part of their craft beer stock, with Michigan-based superstore Meijer being one of their biggest retailers.
For now the three beers will be available in 12 ounce cans, but 16 and 19 ounce cans are planned for the future as well as an expanded selection of the brewery's beers.
Canning beer makes sense for many craft breweries who are taking part in the trend, having previously focused on bottling beer. Cans are lighter, easier to recycle, quicker to cool, and air-tight. They also block light better than bottles, which allows the flavor to remain pure, keeping the beer tasting fresh longer.
