The Padzieski Art Gallery presents Point of Departure, a group exhibition of two- and three-dimensional art created using digital media. The etchings of Giovanni Battista Piranesi will be on display at University of Michigan’s Institute for the Humanities. Piranesi, born in Italy in 1720, originally envisioned himself as an architect, but received no commissions. Instead, he gravitated towards copper plate etchings of the architectural wonders of Rome, where he spent most of his adult life. This exhibit includes 22 etchings and two books of Piranesi’s work, from the personal collection of Bruce W. Frier.
