Nestled in the historic Arden Park neighborhood is a house that is not only a blight to the otherwise well-groomed area, but is also a missed opportunity. As the Abandoned Shelter Squad (ASS) surveyed 500 Arden Park Blvd., at the corner of Brush, visions of grandeur filled our imaginations. For starters, replacing the “Stop Halloween Arson” sign on a boarded-up window with an actual window would really brighten things up. Subsequent projects could include clearing the yard and three-car garage of the standard stuff ASS encounters (shoes, underwear, chimneys) and removing a fallen tree from the roof of said garage. A neighbor says the house has been vacant for ages; she has seen no sign of activity, criminal or otherwise. However, a jimmied entrance at the back (once covered by plywood) indicates otherwise. On the positive side, the interior of the house appears to be devoid of unauthorized human habitants.
