Slate takes a stab today at charting degrees of transgression as a function of profession, from fantasy writers (Solid yes: They better make stuff up) to journalists (Solid no: Remember Stephen Glass? Jayson Blair?).
And the chart uses the Freep’s own Mitch Albom as the icon for columnists, who get more leniency than memoirists (icon: James Frey of A Million Little Pieces) and less than monologists (of course, symbolized by Daisey).
We’d argue that a true representation of the situation requires a two-dimensional grid to plot out the size of the whoppers as well as professions, but, hey, we’ve got other stuff to get to today.
And since we’re plain ol’ working-stiff journalists, we better get it right.
