“It’s been empty for so long that I hardly even notice it anymore,” says Derrick Williams, who lives not far from the former Mr. Ted’s Restaurant, 11020 Conner Road in Detroit. Some older neighbors remember it as a Big Boy restaurant. The 2,764-square-foot building was erected in 1968, but in the early ’90s joined the east side’s growing number of abandoned buildings.

Sitting across from the Detroit City Airport and adjacent to the Apollo Hall, the restaurant appears to be located in an ideal marketing area, but nobody has done anything with it since Mr. Ted left the building. Government records value the place at $73,000.
