On Tuesday, Rashida Tlaib's name was entered into the history books as she became the first woman to be elected to U.S. Congress along with Minnesota's Ilhan Omar.

After celebrating her uncontested victory, Tlaib appeared on independent news network Democracy Now! to discuss the victory and the meaning it has for her as a Palestinian-American, her thoughts on reaching a one-state solution between Israel and Palestine, and the meaning of Democratic Socialism (of which Tlaib is proudly affiliated with).

And of course, Donald Trump.

When asked by Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, whether Tlaib would try to impeach Trump, Tlaib very firmly responds, "Yes, I truly believe he's obstructing justice."

Tlaib continues to discuss her views on Trump's presidency, citing obstruction of justice as her strongest claim against Trump's legitimacy as a civic leader. In particular, Tlaib alludes to the recent resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and current acting AG, Matthew Whitaker.

"I can tell you very strongly this is not political for me. He could be a Democratic president and I would still say the same thing: obstruction of justice. And as an attorney, I can tell you, when we start, kind of turning our heads and letting a little bit of things slip by, like, what we've seen the last few days, we are jeopardizing our own democracy. We are jeopardizing that accountability and that balance of government."
