There's a stirring narrative over on Truthout today from Aaron Cantú, a Brooklyn-based investigative reporter, who zeroes-in on the Detroit Police Department. In a heavily-detailed report on what Cantú refers to as the "ring of snitches," he writes that documents reviewed for the report

... suggest that the informant was part of a ring of jailhouse informants - or "snitches" - that allegedly received lenient sentences as well as food, drugs, sex and special privileges from detectives in the Detroit Police Department's homicide division in return for making statements against dozens of prisoners eventually convicted of murder.
