Motor City Machine bills itself as a "a giant version of the game Mousetrap," "a Rube Goldberg Machine of pulleys, dominoes, whizzing balls" and more created by teams from all over metro Detroit. They've been running workshops throughout the city for the past three months, and on Saturday the big machine will be put together and unveiled at the Michigan Science Center.

And there's still time to participate. New teams can check out the "machine rules" on Motor City Machine's website to build their own machine and bring it to the Michigan Science Center between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Michigan Science Center is located at 5020 John R St., Detroit.

For non-participants, you can meet the teams from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m, and the machine launch is at 2:30 p.m. More information is available here. The event is free to attend or participate in, and the first 200 attendees will receive a free day pass to the museum.
