Maybe somebody just needed more cash on tax day...

Whatever the case, local hip-hop station HOT 102.7's official station vehicle was stolen via a hijack early yesterday afternoon, as an employee re-fueled the vehicle at an area gas station less than a mile away from the station.

Keith "Shug" Gillespie, fleet manager for HOT 102.7, was held at gunpoint by an armed teen at the Jefferson Mobil in Downtown Detroit, as he was pumping petrol less than a mile away from the station. The thief then hopped into the vehicle and sped away. He hit another car as he left the pump.

On-air DJ Suga Rae immediately solicited tips from listeners. Hundreds of callers flooded the lines, since the vehicle wasn't exactly hard to recognize (nobody ever said D-town has the smartest crooks; just look at our mayor...we kid, we kid). In less than an hour, the various tips led to Detroit police not only finding the stolen property but to apprehending the suspect as well.

The person whose tips ultimately led to the arrest was rewarded with her only request -- a pair of front row tickets to the upcoming Alicia Keys-NeYo-Jordin Sparks concert.

Warning: If you're going to steal a vehicle, find one that's unmarked...
