Back in March, local music video mavens Single Barrel Detroit decided that they really wanted to get your attention.
And give it to local indie-rock quintet Prussia.
With a Kickstarter campaign aimed at financing the best possible cinematic production (to acquire stellar equipment and an ideal location), SBD set out to produce an epic "media kit" for the band.
Part 1 of the visual results is now streaming at Impose TV online. Watch it here. It's a Fitzgeraldian freak-out murder party, complete with inebriated goings-ons, a quasi-drag-queen and a suckling pig...
With Prussia being one of SBD's first filmed subjects back in early 08, (and being a band near-and-dear to the hearts of many on SBD's production team), they wanted to do more than their typical treatment of a band or performer - (often hurried on-the-fly shoots of music acts or performers inside decaying or overlooked Detroit landmarks, from elegant churches to hole-in-the-wall diners).
SBD wanted these ambitious films ready for when it came time to prop Prussia's new LP Poor English, an album long-whispered and wondered-about, as the question: "When's that thing coming out?" -circulated all year throughout the local rock scene.
Well, now it is coming out - and so is Single Barrel's music video for its lead single, "What Am I Gonna Tell Your Mom?" (You can also watch an 8-minute behind-the-scenes documentary at SBD's site.

Long story short: Prussia wanted to wait and see how momentous of a release they could achieve with Poor English, hoping to get a bite from a big record label. Inevitably, they decided to release it on their own label (Notown), via three "parts" on 10" vinyl.
Part 1 and Part 2 are online now - and Part 3 will be out in November, with a release show at the Old Miami (11/11/11) with Glossies and Legendary Creatures).
