By far, the smallest venue for this year's Hamtramck Blowout, Whiskey in the Jar is a hidden little joint, with an even more-hidden history. The bar is tiny, and plays host to a roundtable of neighborhood regulars. But it's small in a different way; it takes on the feel of somebody's cozy and warm living room on a freezing winter night. It's the kind of place where conversation thrives, where karaoke is actually fun to watch - particularly the work-a-day guy with the Rod Stewart fixation - where bartenders are all on a first-name basis with the drinkers. It is the epitome of the corner bar. Check it out at 2741 Yemans, Hamtramck. Call 313-873-4154 for more information.
