Traits. So here's the thing. Zingy guitar phrasing spanning surf, boogie, space-rock to reggae (...there's definitely some fine flicks of early aughts-era Modest Mouse on those riffs), with dual vocal melodies harmonized nicely by the bands founders (Michael Seger and Sean Shea) that sound like a mash-up of Bloc Party and Clasp Your Hands Say Yeah's styled urgent crooning... (wow, are those two references still relevant?) along with a necessary amount of shakeable rhythms that refreshingly swerve into some sporadic post-punk fits (from drummer Sam Armeni and bassist Dominic Cam) and keyboard/backing-vocals from Megan Marcoux... And there you have it. There's groovy indie-rock, effects-doused ballads and unabashedly sunny pop ditties... Yep, that's the thing: a debut album from a not-necessarily-new-band - A self-titled record they refer to as "9 singles..."

Traits perform their Record Release Show Jan 17th at the Loving Touch - 8:00 pm in Ferndale - with Awesome Jarvis & The Whales and Le Voyage
