The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan recently made Detroit headlines when he was reunited with his stolen guitar after 27 years. Last month, a woman in Flushing, Michigan returned Billy Corgan’s “lost love,” — a Fender Stratocaster used to record the Smashing Pumpkins’ debut album Gish — which was stolen from St. Andrew’s Hall in 1992.
This summer, the band will be playing at DTE Energy Music Theatre — not St. Andrew’s Hall. (How cool would that be though?)
The Smashing Pumpkins’ “Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour” came to Little Caesars Arena last summer, marking the return of original guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain. The only original member left out of the reunion was bass guitarist D’arcy Wretzky who maintains that Corgan “has always been insufferable.” The tour forecasted the release of the Smashing Pumpkins latest record, Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol.1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.
Noel Gallagher, of Oasis fame, brings his High Flying Birds band to join the fun. Their last release, 2017’s Who Built the Moon?, also featured some band member reunions as Oasis guitarist Gem Archer and drummer Chris Sharrock joined the band.
