But, rest assured local rock fans - one of our most formidable live acts, a collective of showy sultans of exuberant rock n' roll (...the band that took up the call to bring the "Party To The People") is finishing up their next album (...tentatively self-titled) for a late May or early June release.
Lead singer Steven Tuthill sounds jazzed about it. And why not? It was produced by Eddie Spaghetti (of Supersuckers) and recorded at The Loft in Saline - making this their most meticulously produced and collaborative recording experience to date.
"It's a new birth for The Beggars," Tuthill says. The band is rounded out by drummer Jim Faulkner, guitarist Chris Krez and bassist Pookie Grech. Eddie Spaghetti was encouraged to work with the group after hearing their live GPS SEssions EP, put out last year by Motor City Special
Tuthill calls it "bad-ass fucking rock 'n' roll. It's gonna be a really cool record. It's a very big sounding record, great backup vocals (with helpful input and harmonious contributions from Eddie Spaghetti). We're doing it right, no punches pulled, man. It's eight songs, just a half-hour, with no filler, like the records we grew up with. Just bad-ass, straight-up exciting stuff. We feel really good about it."
