It's been a long time coming, but Royca da 5'9" just landed his first #1 album on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart and simultaneously dethroned Rihanna's recent release ANTI from the top spot.
Eye-roll all you want Rihanna, but Royce da 5'9'"s newest album Layers is the best work of Royce's career thus far. The lead single, title track "Layers," features Pusha-T and Rick Ross and we can't stop playing it in the office. Listen to it below.
This also comes as Royce's first #1 solo album. He previously was at the top with Eminem when they released Hell: The Sequel back in 2011.
Royce better soak up this moment while it lasts since Beyoncé released Lemonade this past weekend and Drake released the highly anticipated Views last night. To quote Queen Bey, "boy, bye!"
If you're riding the Royce da 5'9 train like we are, your chance to see the hometown rapper is coming up. Royce announced a tour for his new album and will be making a stop at St. Andrew's Hall on June 6th. You can get tickets here!
In the mean time, listen to this throwback Royce da 5'9" jam featuring forgotten American Treasure, Willa Ford.
RIP to those hot pants.
