Hailed as one of most high-profile recent rock acts in Detroit, post-punk band (and noted nautical fans) Protomartyr have returned to dry ground with a treasure — and it's kind of a big Deal.
Protomartyr released the latest visual today for its upcoming Consolation EP, which was recorded with Kelley Deal of the Breeders and her R.Ring bandmate Mike Montgomery.
Deal says that working with the Detroit band was a "re-kindling" and that the band was "graciously tolerant and receptive" to her ideas.
The EP, slated for a June 15 release, will feature four songs, two of which star accompanying vocals by Deal.
The Yooha Park-directed video for the EP's first single, "Wheel of Fortune," is unsettling and anxious, much like the song itself. A nod to David Lynch's Wild At Heart (that red lipstick, though?) the video depicts self-infliction to an uncomfortable degree.
