While frontman Mick Jagger, 75, continues to shimmy and shake like a 15-year-old gymnast in front of thousands of fans, and the likes of Elton John and hometown hero Bob Seger wrap up farewell tours, Collins, 68, leans into his pain, and walking stick, and performs all but a few minutes of his recent concert while seated.
“I’m going to be sitting down but don’t be alarmed," Collins told an audience in Australia last year. "We’re going to have some fun. I’ve had back surgery but it’s my foot that’s fucked.”
And he'll be sitting pretty with love in the air after announcing his first metro Detroit appearance since a 2004 performance at the now-defunct Palace of Auburn Hills. The tour, an extension of last year's comeback run billed as "Phil Collins ... Still Not Dead Yet, Live!" will embark on a 15-city run with a stop at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena on Oct. 1.
