NO STRIPES FOR AUSTIN...

Next to the annual South By Southwest music conference, the Austin City Limits Music Festival is that American music mecca's biggest event of the year. Detroit expatriates the White Stripes were scheduled to headline the fest this Saturday night, but the band informed the festival's producers today that they are canceling their performance, as well as a scheduled aftershow appearance at Stubbs, a popular Austin club. "Medical reasons" have been cited for the cancellation, according to the event publicist, and no replacement has yet been named. No further info was given. For anyone who may be in Austin this weekend, however, Arcade Fire are scheduled to play another stage at the same time that Jack & Meg were scheduled to play... and, hey, Arcade Fire are always damn good.

Amy Winehouse has also canceled a scheduled appearances at the fest this weekend, as they've been trying to make her go to rehab but she still says no, no, no ...
