Necto of the techno gods

Feb 12, 2003 at 12:00 am
Conveniently situated in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, the Necto stands out as one of the area's top techno venues. Every Thursday night, it plays host to an event called "Lust," which features national and international DJs spinning house, progressive house, and techno - so dancers and aficionados needn't be shy. Large, plush booths line one wall and face the open dance floor so even the wallflowers can watch in style. And for those of you who need a little libation with your booty-shaking, the two bars on either end of the club are open to maximize drink availability. Pulsing lights sweep and flash across a foggy dance floor, while two huge television screens flash images and phrases to patrons. It's an ideal spot for technophiles and clubbers alike. Make sure to get there early: Long Islands are only $1 before 11 p.m. on Thursdays. Don't miss an incredible five-hour set from Carl Craig this Thursday, Feb. 13. Tuesdays and Fridays: PRIDE with DJ Timmy D, Wednesdays: RESident (ongoing DJ competition), and Saturdays: Frequency with DJ Binzo. At 516 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor. Call 734-994-5436 for further information.
