Michael Bolton, how would Detroit live without you?
The answer? Fine. We would be just fine. But we'll hear you out.
It was announced in 2015 that the majestically coiffed balladeer was forking up $250,000 of his own money to fund a documentary about Detroit, or as Bolton calls it, "The greatest urban turn around in American history."
Well, he did the damn thing and Michael Bolton Presents American Dream: Detroit will hit 450 theatres for a one-night-only run on May 15.
Described as a love-letter to Detroit's legacy, the star-studded trailer sheds some light on how the Connecticut native and Grammy-award winner plans to, you know, "save" the city by flipping through his Rolodex. Apparently, the guy just really loves Motown.
Alice Cooper, Francis Ford Coppola, Aretha Franklin, John Varvatos, and Jerry Bruckheimer are among the slew of celebs recruited to say nice buzzwords about the recently revitalized city (or as the trailer suggests, mainly downtown). Mitch Albom even refers to the city as having been "gum on the bottom of America's shoe" so there's that. And Dan Gilbert is alleged to have his own segment in the documentary. Neat!
The documentary will also include musical performances by Bolton and friends.
