“Ride” is the latest single by Walck featuring Codi, a project which, as the name suggests, sees Swedish tech-house producer Walck team up with Detroit’s Codi (Cody Sheldon from the 2009 season of American Idol). It’s a beautiful piece of work — pounding synthwork and ethereal vocals interweaving into something dreamy and atmospheric.

Erik Lyrik’s SOULar System EP is a smooth set of summer-friendly hip-hop, the local rapper rhyming about cruising down Woodward Avenue and I-75. This is intelligent, witty rap from a guy keen to push a positive message. The “Dumb Ass Criminals” skit is worth streaming just for the giggle.

52 is the new mini album from the Handgrenades, and it’s a typical tour de force from the indie pop-rockers, four powerful tracks packed with melodic punch and some of those harmonies that the band has become known for. There’s no filler here — each of these songs would sound very much at home on contemporary radio. The relatively recent addition of guitarist Jesse Shepherd Bates has beefed up what was already a killer band.

The Don Profa C’s Social Mobility kicks off with the track “Flyer Than Thou,” which sees the Don explaining why his feet are on the ground, and why he doesn’t wear sports team merch. It’s pretty chill stuff, offering social commentary over psychedelic sounds.

The latest set from Moral Crimes, Drum Bass Harmony Sex, sees the local group apparently supporting exactly what the title suggests. This is groove-heavy, sexy drum and bass that would make for welcome listening at home in bed, as well as when out clubbing.
